When You Taught Me How To Dance – Katie Melua
Author: admin
When you see a go go dancer on a pedastal dancing, you can immediately distinguish that type of dancing from other types. So, what is it about go go dancing that gives it that "go go" feel? Is it the quick, angular movements? Although, I'm new to dance and don't have the vocabulary to accurately discuss dance, I'd really like to know what makes go go dancing so unique. Thanks.
Go-Go dancers were originally 1960s-era miniskirted clubgoers, dancing at clubs such as the Whisky a Go Go (one of the first to have dancers in elevated cages), wearing go-go boots. The etymology of Go-Go may be the noun go, one of whose meanings is "power of going, energy, vigor". Or it may come from the names of the nightclubs, which ultimately come from the French à gogo, meaning "in abundance, galore".
How can I learn dancing by watching dance movies?

I heard that some stars watch dancing shows on TV to learn dancing by themselves.
Highly trained dancers can certainly pick up moves by watching a video. In fact, video is now the main way that dance companies record their own repertoire to pass down to future dancers. However beginners need to take classes with a qualified teacher. Without a teacher, you won't know when you're doing something wrong, so mistakes can never be corrected and become a bad habit.

Seasoned dance instructor, historian, and choreographer Carol Teten goes even further back in time on this fourth volume of her series. With the aid of dancers Lawrence Ewing and Sonia Fava, Teten goes through the nuances and movements of the French Baroque Court, focusing on three of them — the 18th century Minuet, the 19th century Allemande, and the unplaceable yet very early Contredance. Illustrations and historical detail introduce each dance.
