West Coast Cool Dances & Pom Sidelines

This presentation begins with instruction and demonstration of several key formations as well as several easy to follow dance moves that are used throughout the presentation. Paul breaks down two “totally choreographed” on the court (or on the turf) time-out dances followed by four additional sideline pom routines. As a bonus, Paul shares a series of basic strength development and flexibility exercises that she uses with the UCLA Dance Squad. These exercises are appropriate for in-practice or home-practice. All dances are demonstrated in segments before the total dance is put together. Hi 
ok, I’m teaching 9-13 year olds hip hop dancing Friday. I have assisted with aloooot of classes but this will be the 1st time I teach by myself. I have a gentle personality but I want the kids to take me seriously. I have certain rules (no cellphones, no sidebar conversations, be respectful…) and I want them to take them seriously. But of course I want them 2 have fun 2. Any advice? All answers are greatly appreciated! Thx!
Be firm, fair and have the ability to show the joy of dance. Be enthusiastic and it will certainly infect your entire class. My dance teacher is very forgiving, yet firm. She likes to playfully call you out when you are screwing up, but the key is to be playful and never condemn or criticize. Those are poison to creativity or learning. All the best.

Children in an after school program in Gulu, Uganda. It was over 100 F and the boys were dancing with hatchets. They hung their art on the wall of the school and many had big dreams like becoming a doctor. Sad to know that most will die before they are 35 and will never see the inside of a high school much less a college.
