Your Education Doesn’t Stop At The Classroom Door

The primary reason people go to college is to continue their educations, right? But what some students don’t realize is that opportunities to learn don’t shut off after the class day is through. Whether you’re on a sports team, in a dance troupe, part of Amnesty International, or a representative in your student government, any college activity you pursue will offer you a lot to learn. By pursuing college activities outside of your curriculum, you will learn a lot about the activity itself, and more importantly, a lot about yourself. For example, if you love student government, that’s a sign that perhaps you should really run for office one day. And if you hate it, that’s important information to have before you begin a campaign in the real world and realize it’s a big mistake. You will also learn how to work and interact with other people outside the classroom setting. This skill is a very important one to have: once you graduate from college, you will need to work with other people to some extent regardless of what you end up doing, and all of that work will take place outside of the classroom.

Taking A Break From Studying Makes You More Effective And Efficient In Your Coursework

Additionally, getting involved in college activities will make you a better student in your coursework. How, you may wonder, since college activities drain hours away from the time you could be studying, could this possibly be true? It’s true in at least two ways. First, if you are committed to a college activity, you will force yourself to be organized about getting your course assignments done. The time management that taking classes and doing college activities requires will force you to focus more intently to get the work done more efficiently so that you can go do your college activity. Secondly, taking a break from studying by doing something else will make you more effective in your course work because when you go to do your activity, you are giving yourself a total break from calculus or Shakespeare, so when you go back, you’ll be refreshed. Doing a college activity is better for your brain than taking a break by watching TV for example, because though you’ll be away from your work while you’re watching One Life to Live, you will probably not get it out of your mind that you have to get back to Hamlet. Because a college activity will fully engage your brain, you get a better break from Hamlet, and when you sit back down with him, you’ll read him with fresh and not TV-glazed eyes.

Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and Destiny’s Child have all chosen master choreographer Bryan Tanaka to dance in their videos and on tour. Tanaka tells JigTV.com about his life dancing on world tours with the biggest acts in pop music and dance. In his exclusive JigTV.com interview. Bryan offers a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes as well as on stage.

Chelsea Latimer, host of the online dance community’s interview series, which also provides video dance instruction with top dancers and choreographers, gets Bryan to open up about what he’s done to get to where he is now, what to expect from a professional dance audition, the importance of dancers developing their own freestyle moves, and the benefits of knowing many different styles of dance.

Tanaka’s first piece of advice for those interested in how to learn to dance is “You can’t just take one person’s class. You’ve got to take everybody’s.” Chelsea agrees and provides users with opportunities to learn dance from a long list famous choreographers including Bryan Tanaka, Blake McGrath, Tony Testa, Galen Hooks, and a host of others through informative interviews with dancers and online video instruction, as well as pro dancer video blogs.

Bryan also encourages dancers to record themselves dancing and to learn from their own movement. “Watch yourself. Other than taking lessons from a teacher, your other best teacher is yourself. Make sure you video yourself and learn how your body moves.”

JigTV.com takes this advice a step further, providing users with the ability to upload video of their own moves to compare with other dancers. Dance contests are also offered with prizes for the best dancers’ videos.

Providing interviews with dancers like Bryan Tanaka to its members is another way JigTV.com is proving an invaluable resource for dancers worldwide. To check out the interview with Bryan, check out JigTV.com.

What can children and parents gain from practicing Yoga together? When should I start teaching Yoga to my son or daughter? What about Mommy and Me classes? Let’s cover a bit of ground, and establish some realistic expectation for parents and children.

What can children and parents gain from practicing Yoga together? “The sky is the limit,” as they say. Children and parents need more bonding time. We need to eat together and find activities that solidify our relationships. Mommy and Me Yoga classes offer a chance for families to bond, while children are impressionable.

Like any activity, Yoga can be practiced at an early age. As long as Yoga practice is supervised, and the teacher is knowledgeable, parent and child will benefit in many ways. Parents who have no knowledge of Yoga should consider toddler classes or the Mommy and Me Yoga classes.
Classes should be divided according to age. For example – Children who are one to two years of age could be separated from the two to four years of age group. Below twelve months of age, most children are in the watching stage.

Some babies will copy what they see, and you should never expect too much from any child. Children will learn Yoga much better in a patient environment. There should not be a deadline for the time it takes a child to learn aspects of Yoga. Children have a lifetime to learn the many benefits of Yoga. Surprisingly, most children of all ages will demonstrate Yoga techniques they learn at home.

When should I start teaching Yoga to my son or daughter Yoga? Any time is fine, as long as you make it fun. For parents, this is the beginning of learning how to guide without discouraging. Yoga will teach children life skills, such as stress reduction, anger management, goal setting, and enhance athletic ability.

What about Mommy and Me classes? If you have a Mommy and Me Yoga class in your area, it is worth signing up. Parents should let the Yoga instructor lead the class. This seems obvious, but you would be surprised how often parents can be counter productive to children’s activities.

Mommy and Me Yoga classes will contain many of the following aspects: Yoga music, kids music, singing, basic Pranayama, coloring books, theme Yoga classes, Asanas, mixing dance movement with Yoga, drawing with crayons, story telling, Yoga games, focusing drills, relaxation techniques, meditation, and lots of fun.

There are many Yoga books, DVD’s, card decks, coloring books, and Yoga music CD’s for children. With so much to choose from, a child’s attention can be harnessed for constructive purposes. The greatest benefit of all for children is the ability to control their own attention span.

The dance of the ballet is a dance is beautiful movements and graceful flowing moves that beautifies the body. Ballet is a dance that you cannot learn in a couple of months, it is a graceful and beautiful dance with incredible moves, ballet takes years to learn and many hours of practice. After ballet dancers graduate from dance schools, the dancers will audition for dance companies with the hope of performing on stage..

When looking at dance it is very structured in its movements, dance is performed to a musical score and this enhances the rhythm of the dance which enables you see the flowing physical movements that is translated into happiness and the joy that makes dance.

When dancing the ballet there are many unnatural moves but the great dancers make the unnatural moves look very flowing and natural. In France King Louis XIV founded the Royal Academy of Dancing in 1661 to train dancers so they would perform in his court.

There are no specific brands of shoes that schools require but many encourage that girls wear pink and boys wear black or white for ballet. Wear the proper clothes when dancing the ballet. When choosing a shoe you could pick leather that is imitation but they will wear out quickly it is best to purchase real leather shoes. Be careful not to stick to the floor, if you stick to the floor your ballet shoes will wear out faster than normal, ballet shoes are meant to slide and if they stick you could injure yourself. Ballet shoes wear out very quickly; because of this fact many dancers purchase many pairs because they go thru at least a dozen or more shoes each year. The sole, strong yet flexible, helps younger dancers build strong feet. Ballet shoes are designed in specific way to help movement; ballet shoes structure helps dancers perform beautifully and the design of the shoes makes it so the when the ballet dancer dances it does not hurt their feet.

You need support for your feet while allowing access to all your bones and muscles of your feet. The area covering the toes and top of the foot is the vamp, while the opening nearest the toes is the shoe’s throat. The rear portion of the shoe that encases the heel and sides of the foot is known as the quarter. A dancer’s experience, shape of the foot and strength should be considered in finding the best shoe. How the bottom of the foot contacts the floor is very important. When buying shoes you should try them on first and take a couple of steps to make sure the fit and are comfortable to wear.

Tights come in a variety of colors, with the most popular being pink and black. Ballet tights are a standard part of the dress code at ballet schools and in performances. Ballet tights are tight-fitting leg coverings worn ballet performers.

When becoming a dancer most people do it for the dance and not the money, the ballet pay is not usually very high, but there are few dancers that practice and shine that do receive a substantial income.
